Q. Where did the name come from?
A.
The original Reichert House structure was the home of a Mrs. Reichert, who passed away around 1982 and left the property to the State of Florida for use by the local youth. In 1987, then county commissioner Mrs. Levida Brown suggested to Ms. Rosa B. Williams that the house be used for The Reichert House Program.

Q. How does a young teen male enter the program?
A.
He is referred by the police, G. P. D. or A. C. S. O., the Alachua County School Board, community health professionals, churches and or parent(s).

Q. What kind of success does Reichert House have in it’s program?
A.
Reichert House has a 95% success rate in high school graduation and a 90% job attainment rate.

Q. What kind of services are offered at the Reichert House Youth Academy?
A.
The Reichert House Youth Academy offers skill development in a format that engages all types of youth. The Academy helps members develop the verbal, research and writing skills and the discipline needed to succeed in a school and college environment and the world of work. It also supports students in developing new peer norms that value academic achievement and violence, substance abuse free environment. This community-based program is designed to help Gainesville and Alachua County’s youth develop assets enabling them to become healthy and productive adults. Students receive mentoring, FCAT preparation, homework assistance, team building, and life-skills training.
